My portrait depicts Ernest Hemingway with one of his many six-toed cats in Florida. The Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum in Key West, Florida, is home to approximately sixty six-toed cats. Cats normally have five front toes and four back toes. Ernest Hemingway was given a white six-toed cat by a ship’s captain and some of the cats who live on the museum grounds are descendants of that original cat, named Snow White.
My favorite book written by Ernest Hemingway is The Old Man and the Sea.
The movie with Spencer Tracey filmed in 1958 is wonderful.
Ernest Miller Hemingway (1899 – 1961) was an American novelist, short story writer and journalist. His style had a strong influence on 20th-century fiction, while his adventurous lifestyle and public image brought him admiration from later generations. Hemingway produced most of his work between the mid-1920s and the mid-1950s, and he was awarded the 1954 Nobel Prize in Literature. He published seven novels, six short-story collections, and two nonfiction works. Three of his novels, four short-story collections, and three nonfiction works were published posthumously. Many of his works are considered classics and over thirteen films which include: A Farewell to Arms, For Whom the Bell Tolls, The Old Man and the Sea, The Sun Also Rises, and The Snows of Kilimanjaro.
